Lesson 3 of 4

Elements of a One-Pager

Let’s flesh out your one-pager from those three key sentences. Think of them as peaks in your roller coaster of a story.

Be as formal or informal as you want. As we said, there’s no formal or correct way of doing this, but you should consider the following:

  • Who is your protagonist?
  • What do they want?
  • Is there someone or something preventing them from getting it?
  • How will they have changed from the beginning of the novel to the end?
  • What is the story’s theme? Meaning, what are you trying to say about the world through this character?

Open your One Pager Workbook and complete the second exercise “THE ROLLER COASTER PEAKS”.
