Well progress ground to a halt as I returned to work last week. I knew it was coming which is why I plowed through the courses and let everything marinate. The past three days I went through a case study of first lines, first paragraphs, and first pages of Joe Abercrombie’s The First Law series (I have the first five novels and the short story anthology. It’s the tone I’m going for with the novel.
I think I’ve started picking up on starting the story off establishing character and setting right away. I practiced writing the first 200 words of my ‘B is for’ story, and also wrote a first line for my novel.
