So #2 is the winner – hook is better with a hint about the MC and their conflict. Got it.
I think I’ll go back to fine tune my blurb next. If I include some/all of #1 above, plus the who-what-where-when, I should be have something solid. My goal is to have the blurb be less than 200 words (bestseller titles in the genre ranged from 97-263 word blurbs). My understanding is that the book hook is tethered to the blurb, so can be vague, but hooks reader into moving on to the blurb.
