I wasn’t sure when I started that I’d write more than one. As I plotted out the first book I realised that I had too long of an arc for my protagonist to follow, to fit in a single story. So I figured I’d split it into two, but then it ended up as three. And the setting lends itself to a series, and then a planned reader magnet turned into a historical prequel, and…
Here I am!
So in short, I didn’t know at first – but when I realised I wanted a trilogy I planned out the major story arc with that in mind. So book one is self-contained, but ends with the Big Bad down but not out (think the first Star Wars – the rebels won, but only temporarily).
