I don’t think the genres are going to be a problem – SF is pretty broad and you can squeeze a lot of sub-genres in there!
Here’s some blurb feedback.
I like the world building intro but think it could be condensed. There’s planets, it’s sort of a Star Wars setting – I think that’s all you need to cue the reader in.
The big dumb object is a classic inciting incident.
But I think my main issue is that I don’t get a lot of focus on the characters, just a montage string of set-ups. Is there are a main character? Do they have names? Maybe focus on the girl and the journo to start with? I think the blurb would grip me more if these people had names and if we knew how they connected to the mystery.
